Local times, your followers’ time. Read on 24 October 2026.
| Source | Wednesday | Wednesday within the week |

| Buffer (2026) | 12 p.m., then 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. | best day of the week |
| Later (2024 data) | 3 a.m., strong until 5 a.m. | not ranked |
| Hootsuite (2026) | 5 p.m. | not named among the best days |

Why Wednesday comes out on top
Buffer is the clearest: Wednesday is its best day, with a noon spike that Buffer itself calls unusual. Most days show no noon peak in its data; Wednesday does. Buffer links it to the lunchtime scroll.
Sprout Social sees Wednesday as the top of the week’s activity: a nine-hour window, 12 to 9 p.m., and a late-night rebound at 11 p.m. Its advice: this is the day to publish the most.
Two overlaps come out of it. Noon, in Buffer and Sprout Social (and 11 a.m. in Hootsuite’s Central time breakdown). 5 to 6 p.m., in all three: Sprout Social (inside its window), Buffer (6 p.m.) and Hootsuite (5 p.m.). Later stays apart, with 3 a.m., on 2024 data.
Wednesday by industry
| Industry (study) | Wednesday |
|---|---|
| Computer Software & Tech (Sprout Social) | 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. |
| Retail (Sprout Social) | 12 to 3 p.m. |
| Dining, hospitality and tourism (Hootsuite) | 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., its best slot |
| Government (Sprout Social) | 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Civic, Non-Profit & Membership (Sprout Social) | 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
| Nonprofit (Hootsuite) | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. |
| Media and entertainment (Hootsuite) | 5 p.m. |
Almost every one of these windows covers noon. If your industry is in the list, Wednesday noon is a good first test.
What my account says: still to be checked
On my Occirank posts, Wednesday doesn’t have enough posts yet to decide. In video 4, Claude rated Tuesday and Wednesday at noon as promising, but on two posts only.
So it put Wednesday 12:30 p.m. into the six-week test it suggested, with five posts per slot. That test is still to run: I have no result to show you.
Test Wednesday on your account
- Two slots: noon, backed by Buffer and Sprout Social, and 6 p.m., backed by all three studies.
- Same format on both, for several weeks, alternating from one Wednesday to the next.
- Read your results in your local time, with each cell’s post count.
- Be wary of Wednesday 11 p.m.: it’s a spike for Sprout Social, but a late-night post on a small account can take off or flop by pure chance.
Key takeaway
Wednesday is the day ranked first most often. Noon and 6 p.m. are the two hours to test. For the day before, where three studies overlap in the late afternoon, see the best time to post on Instagram Tuesday.
